Spicetionary is a Canadian company with Venezuelan roots.
We started in this area to bring flavours and ingredients from the South American and Caribbean region to Canada.
In this sense, our first blend developed is based on a family recipe to prepare black beans or what we call in Venezuela "caraotas".
We did this with the collaboration of Mrs. Mary, a Venezuelan, based in Canada. A long time cook and entrepreneur. She makes some incredible empanadas!
We met one day and with the ingredients we began to iterate recreating the recipe to season the beans, substituting the fresh ingredients for the spices.
After about 5 versions, we came up with what is our first seasoning recipe, which we call Beanpnotized, once you use and taste the beans, you don't want to stop having it in your kitchen.
Its use is very practical, for this we leave you an easy way to use it and get you out of trouble when you are looking for a snack or appetizer or dip to use with tortillas, crackers, bread anything you like.
- 1 can 300 ml Black beans
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 1.5 tsp Beanpnotized seasoning
In a medium saucepan, combine beans, seasoning and oil. Stir it until ingredients are well mixed. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10. Use a blender or food processor to get the consistency of a dip.
Garnish with cilantro and serve.
