    This spice is fruity, earthy, and warm with a moderate heat level of about 10,000 on the Scotville scale . Its flavour is similar to the ancho chile, slightly salty.

    The pepper flakes are known in Turkey aspul biber (pul = flake, biber = pepper), and in Armenia as Haleb biber. In Turkey, Pul Biber is the third most commonly used spice, after salt and black pepper.

    To season meat, beans and salads. Marinated chicken, or as a substitute to ground paprika or red pepper.
